NEXT MONTHLY MEETING

Wednesday 20^th August 2008 in the Trinity Room at the Christchurch School of Music. Barbadoes St. Next to the Catholic Cathedral.

7.30-7.45pm     Library time

7.45- 9.00pm     “Step Orff into Spring” - find out how you can create your own songs and create musical stories in a creative workshop using Orff techniques. Julie would also love share some of the ideas she picked up at ISME in Italy.

Free for members, $2 for non-members.

Coming up:  On 15^th October, Luke from Gandharva Loka will workshop World Instruments.  They have a fantastic range of percussion, string, and wind instruments.  The Champion Centre has already purchased some for using in music therapy.

Do you miss the old days of Sunday morning kids programmes on the radio, snuggling up together to listen to the songs and stories?  At http://www.thatsthestory.co.nz/ you can listen to a radio channel designed especially for children, streaming live.    

WHAT’S ON?

Christchurch School of Music Showcase Concert is on this Saturday night the 16^th August at the Town Hall starting at 6pm. Tickets from CSM office or ticketek.

The Christchurch Primary Schools Cultural Festival is on at the Christchurch Town Hall from Monday 18^th to Thursday 21^st August, 7pm each night, plus matinees at 12.30pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Fri 22^nd August.   It’s a unique opportunity to experience an authentic, vibrant celebration of the many different cultures in Aotearoa.  Book at Ticketek.
