SAT 19 JULY at Heaton Intermediate SchoolWho doesn’t love a good story…especially when it’s a fairytale classic? Don’t be fooled by the nursery rhyme Little Red Riding Hood. The piece, based on Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting Rhymes’, is a fun piece with a twist at the end, and suitable for all ages!  Resonance Ensemble, Christchurch’s newest and only chamber orchestra, perform an interactive family concert. This features the fairytale piece of music, which will be narrated by one of the Court Jesters. There will also be familiar ballet music from Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Coppélia, as part of this year’s KidsFest.  Families will have the opportunity to attend a workshop prior to the concert, making masks of the main characters, and learn more about the story in preparation for the concert. The masks will be incorporated into the performance, showcased by a parade. Come and meet the players at the end. Workshop 1: 9.30-10.45am      CONCERT 1: 11.30-12.30pm Workshop 2: 11.45-1pm           CONCERT 2:  2-3pm Concert: $10 adults, $5 children. Remember to look on the web for resources. DLTK website has all kinds of pictures and idaes to download.  You Tube can be a good resource to find songs that you can then adapt the speed or words and sing them yourself.

A valuable opportunity to connect with other similar souls running community play and music groups around Canterbury is being hosted by Anna from SKIP.
